Mobility-aid freight quotations: compare scope before price
ABLEORA · Editorial review · English
Two offers can list the same mobility-aid model and quantity yet cover different journeys. One may stop at a destination port; another may describe delivery to a warehouse. Before calling one cheaper, ask whether the quoted endpoint, cost basis and responsibilities are actually comparable.
This is an editorial comparison method, not a freight quotation, recommendation of a trade rule or determination of duties, insurance coverage or product-market eligibility. Confirm the actual transaction with the responsible supplier and logistics professionals.
Start with the same shipment brief
Identify the model, selected configuration, quantity and proposed destination. Refer to the packing-data record for confirmed carton quantities, external dimensions and gross weights. Leave missing data open rather than borrowing another model's figures.
Send the same reference brief to each party and retain its version. If one offer assumes a different packing method or destination, record the change before comparing prices. This article adds the transport-scope check; it does not repeat the carton measurement worksheet.
Write the delivery term and named place in full
ICC describes Incoterms® rules as clarifying delivery tasks, costs and risks. [ICC]
Copy the exact rule, named port or place and edition stated in the offer. A three-letter code without an identified place leaves a question to resolve. Ask the supplier or forwarder to confirm the wording and whether it fits the proposed transport; do not choose a rule solely because its quoted amount looks lower.
Trade.gov notes that these rules do not set payment terms or ownership transfer. [ITA]
Keep the product description, payment agreement and relevant order conditions separately identified. A short delivery label is not a substitute for the actual agreement or the applicable product documents.
Make included and excluded steps visible
For comparison, list collection, main transport and destination-side handling as separate lines. Ask which are included, which are excluded and who is to arrange and pay each quoted item. Clarify any final-delivery or unloading step that matters to your receiving location.
Record the parties' written answers about clearance, duties or taxes and insurance instead of assuming that a phrase such as 'shipping included' answers them all. If the responsible party or scope remains unclear, mark it unresolved. This checklist does not assign legal obligations or promise that ABLEORA offers a particular delivery service.
Compare the same endpoint and charge basis
An offer described as 'to destination port' and one described as 'to your warehouse' do not establish the same endpoint. Ask both senders to name the place and specify the destination-side steps included. This is a comparison example, not an ABLEORA quotation or customer case.
Copy the currency, charge unit, validity date and exclusions. A per-carton amount and a shipment total need a common basis before comparison. Put unexplained differences in a clarification column; do not treat them automatically as savings.
Keep the transport offer linked to its issuer, date and shipment brief. Request a revised written scope when the destination, quantity or packing changes. Carry confirmed terms into the actual quotation or order rather than relying on an informal comparison note.
A delivery-scope record to copy
Shipment brief / models / configuration / quantity: __ Packing-data source / revision / open fields: __ Origin / exact destination and receiving point: __ Quoted rule / named port or place / edition: __ Included steps / excluded steps / quoted responsible parties: __ Clearance / duties or taxes / insurance: confirmed source or unresolved __ Currency / charge unit / validity / quotation reference: __ Open difference / next written answer / owner / date: __
Use one record per offer and compare only after the open differences are clear. For an ABLEORA discussion, provide the model shortlist, destination and packing information you have, plus the scope questions still unanswered. Do not send customer or patient personal information.
